I had a culture bump one time when some friends came to my house to share Valentine’s day, I had told everyone that they had to bring whatever they wanted to drink. My guests were from Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, and one of them was American. When everybody came, they brought food and drinks to share, but the American girl brought just a small (individual) coke with her. I was shocked, because in Venezuela when you say bring something, it means to share with everyone who may be at the party or meeting. Afterwards, I realized that I had said that they had to bring whatever they wanted to drink, and  the American understood literally what I said and had done exactly that.

This culture bump taught me to be clear and explain what you mean, because what seems clear to you, may not be clear to somebody else. Even more so when they are from other countries.
